FCAW-GMAW

AWS D1.1 – FCAW/GMAW CLASS


Structural Welding Course – AWS D1.1, .035 - .045, mid range wire - FCAW/GMAW

8 week course/not to exceed 25 Hours. – Includes: Lab – Self-shielding and Gas-shielded wires.

Materials and certification test will be administered if ready within the 50 hours of training.


COURSE PRICE – $2,500 INCLUDES:

Up to 25 hours of training 

Practical welding training- Practice 2F, 3F, and 4F fillet joints 

Practical welding training- Practice 2G, 3G, and 4G groove welds

Practice 1"- unlimited thickness V groove pre test, if qualified as ready by the instructor



Course Description – Certification in AWS D1.1 FCAW or GMAW


Course Objective – By the end of the class session, the student should be able to weld fillet

and groove welds in all positions. The student will be taught how to apply the proper welding

techniques to T joints, Lap joints and Groove welds, as needed in the welding industry.


Classroom Instruction: Shop and field safety standards, rules and regulations needed to

develop safe work ethics.


Lab/Shop: Hands on welding with FCAW and GMAW wires. Proper technique in welding

basic joints – Tee, Lap, Butt, Edge, and Corner. Instruction required for adequate placement of

weldment in the Flat (F), Horizontal (H), Vertical (V), and Overhead (OH) positions.


PROCESSES: GMAW – MIG Welding – used widely in the fabrication industry. It is the

most commonly used welding process in many fabrication industries.


FCAW – used in the construction industry on both thin and thick steels because of it’s ease of

usage and high productivity rate. It can be used in many other welding industries as well.

 AWS D1.1 MATERIALS: Included in course price 

NR 232, .072 FCAW Self shielding wire- 120lbs. 

Cross T- pieces- up to 8 sets 

Practice test- 1" V-Groove - unlimited thickness- up to 6 sets
